About

Artist Joanne Domka
For nearly two decades the artist Joanne Domka has searched the countryside for the disappearing America. Cruising the back roads, Joanne captures echoes of an era of diners and neighborhood family businesses that are rapidly giving way to franchises and mega-malls.
The intricate details, glowing neon, peeling paint, and long shadows that play across the face of her sign renderings creatively document these once ubiquitous sights found along our highways.
A native of the Motor City – Detroit, MI, Joanne has also developed a series of artwork celebrating America’s love of the automobile.
Joanne Domka’s hand-colored black and white photographic artwork of classic automobiles and vintage signage has been featured in top magazines such as Popular Photography, Peterson’s Photographic, Photo Techniques, and Automobile Magazine; exhibited nationally, including the prestigious Concours d’Elegance classic automotive show held annually in Detroit; and acquired for private and corporate art collections.
